Adding a water filter to your home is a great way to improve its taste, smell, and to ensure it’s free of any contaminants. You may be unsure of what to expect during the water filter installation process. At Kel Tren WaterCare, we take great pride in making the installation process as easy as possible. You can expect some of the following steps when undergoing a water filter installation service.

1. Figuring Out What Kind of Filter You Need

The most important decision is figuring out which type of filter is the perfect fit for your home and your water. Do you only want drinking water filtered? Or would you prefer the entire home filtered? You might want to consider the different filter options, such as the Clear Flo® drinking water system under your sink, or a filtration system for your whole home.

We can send our Water Treatment Consultants to your home to determine the correct fit for your home and your family’s needs!

2. Choosing the Best Place for the Filter

The next decision is to decide where the filter is going to be installed. It should be easy to access the water filtration systems in Central Jersey because you’ll need to change filter media every 2 – 5 years.

Typically, our water filtration systems are installed after the water meter if you are on municipal water, or after the pressure tank if you have a private well. Typically, you need access to drainage of some sort and electricity. Sump pumps, sewer lines, and septic tanks are all great options! The power only uses a 110v outlet, so no special electric needs are required.

3. A Little Plumbing Will Be Necessary, So Pipes Will Be Cut

To fit the filter into the existing plumbing, a pipe needs to be cut, but don’t worry, our experienced installers and technicians know exactly where and how to do this. The filter is inserted and a by-pass shut-off valve is installed next to it. We make this a quick and painless process and most installations can be completed within half a day!

This allows all the water to pass through the filter. If you ever need to stop water from passing through the filter, then you can use the shut-off valve.

For point-of-use filters that go to a specific drinking water location, like a Reverse Osmosis, we can install this under a kitchen cabinet or possibly in the basement under the kitchen sink!

4. Now Time to Enjoy Your Newly Improved Water

That’s it! After about 2 to 4 hours, your home will be ready to enjoy clean, safe water, free of any contaminants, smells, stains, or whatever other problems your water had. Now it’s time to enjoy your great water for years to come!
